What Causes Pain And Burning Sensation In The Throat Despite Taking Medication?

HI. i am suffering from infection in tonsils. what I earlier presumed was ulcers in my throat because i could see those. The problem started on friday. I thought as it seems ulcers , rest will help me. But it got worse since yesterday. So went to see an ENT specialist. He prescribed me
1. Mucaine gel 3 times a day before food
2. Pan D 2 times a day
3. voveron d 2 times a day
4. levoflox-500 once a in night
5. Montek LC once in night

however pain and burning sensation in my throat has not yet relieved. i also get drowsy feeling all the time.
Please tell me something which can cause these tonsils infection go away earliest.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pain and burning sensation in the throat despite taking medication which seems to be due to persistence of upper respiratory tract infection due to poor and immunocompromised immunity of body.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid intake of sharp and spicy food substances and cold beverages. Apply dologel on these ulcers. You should consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order certain tests like throat swab test, blood test and may prescribe antibiotics (amoxicillin or penicillin ) at least for 10 days along with anti-inflammatory medications. For now do warm saline gargles and take steam twice daily .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
