What Causes Pain And Cracking Sound In Ribs After A Deep Cough?

hello, I was looking up some possible info for my husband. Yesterday he coughed really hard and long and he felt a pop in his left side followed by pretty bad pain (he has got a high pain tolerance but hes been hurting pretty bad. he never complains and he can barely bend or anything) that has not went away. About 10 min ago he sneezed and it popped again in the same spot and he said it felt like a warm fluid releasing inside...the pain is worse now but then again it just happened. Like i said he has a high pain tolerance but he says that coughing takes his breath away it hurts so bad.. suggestions?

Noted only main complaint is chest pain with excess cough....

Let me know you excess coughing sometime also lead to chest pain ...
And ya if muscular strain more pain can be intolerable...
Rest is done...
Analgesic is taken....

Your auscultation should done according to my opinion ...
If crepitation herd restrictive disease suspected.
If rhonchi is there then obstructive disease can be cause...

Pulmonary function test , chest x ray useful to do further work up.
Viral flu and allergic condition also can lead coughing...
Your CBC also done ...

Avoid smoking if habit....
Take care....
You can discuss these suggestion to your doc also...
