Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Well, cancer is not the last thing to think of and much more common causes may exist.
Mostly this happens due to benign conditions such as infections, abscess, or adenomas. These are harmless causes but should be treated with antibiotics.
At this point it is advisable to do breast ultrasound and mammography just to be sure and start regular follow-up of possible cysts. In case of redness, fever, and progressive pain this may indicate abscess and then it should be surgically drained or evacuated by a needle under control of ultrasound.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
