What Causes Pain And Discomfort In Abdomen After Having A Hernia Surgery?
Had surgery for inguinal hernia in early August. Since beginning of October have experienced discomfort and achy pain at the site of the hernia operation which extends to the inner thigh, especially after exercise, Along with the discomfort/pain in the groin, my legs have feel very weak and there is numbness and tingling in left calf area extending to the heel. Am also feeling some tingling in forearms and hands. So far blood tests, lumbar x-rays, and MRI show everything normal. But the symptoms persist - have an appt with my doc in a couple weeks to review what to do next. Can there be a relationship between the hernia surgery and the other symptoms or am i looking at two different issues?
The abnormal sensations are due to peripheral neuropathy as you may know since you have been investigated.
This refers to abnormal nerve function of the peripheral nerves (nerves outside the brain and spinal cord).
The surgery may have played a role if nerves were injured during the procedure. There are nerve conduction tests that can be done by neurologist to identify the nerves involved.
I hope this helps
