Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain And Discomfort In The Groin Area?
My 26 year old daughter is visiting from out of town for the holiday. She had a bad cold last week and now has a slight cough. She is complaining of discomfort and occasional pain upon activity in her right groin. She wonders if it is related to lymph nodes in the groin post cold virus, a kidney stone possibility, or a hernia. Should we get her to a clinic tomorrow or can she wait a week to check in with her home town doctor? Thanks. rlowes

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
-Lymph nodes are firm nodules. Felt easy on feeling in the groin. In case they are painful after pressure. She may need an antibiotic.
-A hernia is rare to occur with a slight cough. A long-running severe cough can lead to it & you can feel an increase in the size of swelling after coughing.
Kidney stone is accompanied by burning urination. Your daughter needs early medical advice to find the cause &get proper treatment rather than having tension all the time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
