What Causes Pain And Discomfort In The Lower Right Leg?

Of late I ve been having some pain and discomfort in my lower right leg from below the knee to the ankle. I have a metal rod in my right thigh due to a broken femur from an accident over twenty years ago as well as screws in my hip from a cracked pelvis. I have not had any major issues or serious pain all these years and have kept in good shape; jogging, etc. Could the rod in my upper right leg be causing the discomfort in my lower leg after all these years?
