What Causes Pain And Discomfort In The Molar Tooth?

I have had pain and discomfort within a molar... I think it may be an abscess. I have Flagyl and Levofloxin left over from a diverticulitis infection before a colectomy in mid July. May one of these drugs be used to attack the infection? I plan to see a dentist tomorrow, hopefully.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain in case if you have deep decay in tooth that is causing pain then taking only antibiotics will not help although flagyl and levofloxacin can help in reducing infection but should be taken only after advise with dentist..

You can also be advised an x ray of the tooth to check for the depth of infection and for permanent resolution treatment of the tooth like Root Canal Treatment or extraction can be done depending upon the condition of the tooth..

As of now you can take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and do cool compresses over the cheek..
Take soft diet and avoid eating from the painful side..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
