Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Doc, lately I have been experiencing ear ache yesterday but today I didn t experience it. It has some kind of fluid dripping down my ear and I would like to know what kind of thing this is and how does it last long. We cant afford a doctor so can you please prescribe a medicine or anything. Thank you so much doc.
The fluid dripping from the ear might be a ear congestion followed by a dysfunctional eustachian tube. There is a small tube that connects your throat with the middle ear that helps to normalize the pressure. If you are experiencing sinus symptoms or cold symptoms along with this you are probably suffering from an acute upper respiratory infection.
If it's just 1-2 days since the symptoms began you can try some nasal saline sprays for symptomatic relief and if you don't have high blood pressure you can even try decongestants. Take rest, drink plenty of fluids. Ibuprofen if you have body aches. If it is prolonged for more than a week or so consult a doctor for antibiotics such as Azithromycin to be taken with food or Erythromycin.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Manoj Pradeep
