What Causes Pain And Inflammation At The Back Of Tongue?
I have had a pain in the back of my tongue for a while now and had 4 doctors look at it. Apparently it is a mild inflammation but it feels as though my tongue has something stuck in it. It is starting to cause pain in my ear as well. The pain originally started under my jaw and felt like muscular pain but recently i have had swelling under my tongue on the left hand side. I found a rather hard lump, which is painless on the upper left side of my gum and my GP seemed to think it was an absess but i have no pain there. Just under my tongue. Im at a loss. Been told to see a dentist?
As per your complain a lump under the tongue with pain at the back of tongue and pain in ears can be due to a swelling in the submandibular salivary gland that is an important structure present in that location.. Secondly a lump on the gum that is painless can be most probably a periapical cyst or if it is bony hard it can be a mandibular torus.. For confirmation, you need a detailed clinical evaluation and investigations like x-ray,MRI Scan etc. Consult a Dentist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and investigate accordingly.. As of now take painkillers like Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Diclofenac etc to relieve pain..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
