What Causes Pain And Itchiness All Over Body In Older Children?
My 13 year old son is experiencing sharp pains all over his body, he says it feels like a sharpened pencil poking him all over at once. He is becoming itchy and he muscles are tightening up in his stomach and arms and legs. This morning when he tried to urinate he said it was hard because he was tightening up. He is very uncomfortable. The Pediatrician said to take Allergra but it is not working.
Your 13 yr old son is experiencing sharp pain all over the body. He is becoming itchy and his muscles are tightening up to the stomach, arms and legs. It was hard to urinate due to tightening of the muscles. He should avoid scratching itchy hands and feet. Scratching can cause breaks in the skin, which can increase the risk of infection.
Hands should be properly washed and kept clean as they come in contact with a lot of surfaces throughout the day, and on the feet due to friction from wearing shoes. He should maintain good hygiene. His symptoms are indicative of allergic reaction to certain food, medicines, poison ivy, etc. It can be a reaction to the bite of certain insects like wasps, bees, etc.
He can apply a thin layer of Soframycin ointment or hydrocortisone ointment to reduce itching. Tightening of the hands and feet that he is experiencing may be anaphylactic reaction. You are suggested to take him to ER so that he can get necessary medical aid. He should be examined by a GP so that he is treated at the earliest. Do not keep him at home. Sometimes anaphylactic reactions ay be life threatening, get him treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
