What Causes Pain And Itching In The Lower Back?

I am overweight, sedentary with compressed disc disease. A week ago I worked in my yard pulling weeds and stooping, etc. THREE DAYS later I develop severe burning pain and itching along my lower back but not in my joints. What can I do to make it stop? I have been taking it easy ever since it started but it still hurts. Any thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You are having musculoskeletal pain according to the mentioned history. It can be in form of muscular or ligament strain.

You can be prescribed a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug like Brufen and muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxazone for 5 days. Avoid strenuous activities and take rest.

If no improvement than consulting an orthopaedic surgeon for an examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
