What Causes Pain And Numbness At The Site Of Incision On Ribcage?
Dec 2nd will be3 one year since i had a pocket removed from my esophagus they cut open ver my rib cage on r side, pried my ribs apart cut about inch oe so off one of my ribs. is it normal for4 it to take so long to heal? i am still in a lot of pain and still have numb places, if i touch one place on my chest i feel it5 on side of rib cage. as i was healing my numbness left and pain took its place i accually hurt more now than when i came home from hosp. is this normal?

hi incisions or trauma on these areas are very painful due to the rich nervous supply or innervation. these nerve endings keep on firing on & off, with persisting pain , this usually takes long time to reduce, but sometimes keep firing lifelong, do not worry on this. you can apply local pain relief gel,or local anaesthetic blocks under medical supervision for temporary relief. please follow deep breathing exercises. all the best take care
