What Causes Pain And Numbness In The Knee?

I have pain in my left knee which is sore to touch and now has numbness on outer lateral side of knee. I cannot put any pressure on it but it does not hurt to walk but is a little painful going up stairs, but not down. The soreness is at the base of the patella. Not sure what is going on but the situation has not improved and has become slightly worse in the past two months.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to osteoarthritis or nerve compression.

To confirm diagnosis kindly do MRI knee and lumbar spine, nerve conduction studies, vitamin B12 level after consultation.

For pain, you can take tablet tynelol. Apply diclofenac gel with heating pads.

Use knee caps. avoid barefoot walking and squatting position.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
