My girlfriend is a 50 year old female with Hx of charte artificial disc at L45 8 years ago and a left L45 foramenotomy 4 months ago. Then about 2 weeks ago I fractured the left L45 inferior left articular facet. It is non displaced. Conservative therapy is being tried. About 2 months ago I started having loss of sensation at the end of urination. Tonight I started showing some urinary leakage. Also have burning pain left buttox to mid hamstring. Pain, numbness and tingling down left leg to toes which is intermittent. intermittent stabbing severe pain at L45 level when sitting. My surgeon does not seem concerned but I am worried. Please help.

Back ache is common due to disc problems however when this is accompanied by urinary or stool leakage this is an emergency and should be dealt in on emergency basis . In this context of your postie history of spinal problem the pain could have been ignored but the urinary leakage cannot be ignored. So talk to him I think he would not take it lightly if you covey your message rightly.
