What Causes Pain And Numbness In The Lower Leg After Hip Replacement?

I had a hip replacement in OCT 2014. Now I have pain in that area and numbness in the lower right leg and foot. Not able to carry any extra weight on that side without it causes some pain. Discomfort sleeping at night. Any ideas as to what is going on after almost 3 years of being pain free in that hip area. I m 5 foot 11 inches 170 pound, actively swimming and biking. For work i m setting at a desk 90% of the time.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It might be due to minor nerve contusion or inflammation during the procedure.

As of now you can take vitamin B12 supplements for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persists better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
