Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am experiencing pain and numbness in my right hand that feels like my hand is being gripped very strongly. It comes in spasms and radiates up my arm. It usually begins in the middle of the night and repeats over and over. I then have extreme numbness in my hand. The numbness and tingling can last all day. I have Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and these symptoms were simliar to what I experienced before I had a resection of my top rib. This was about 10 years ago. I have neck pain that spreads to my right shoulder area. I went to physical therapy for about two months in the spring for this and I got some relief, but now it s back with a vengence. Could this be my TOS again? It is causing an extreme lack of sleep.
The symptoms are consistent with the underlying thoracic outlet syndrome history itself. Though there is top rib resected in your case, it may be possible to have nerve impeachment from other neuronal issues via underlying fibrosis at the neurone plexus site. An MRI of the brachial plexus is the best choice to diagnose the case.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
General & Family Physician
