What Causes Pain And Numbness In The Right Leg While Walking?
hello, I m a 61 year old male. Lately I ve been experiencing pain, numbness, and difficulty walking. This is all located in my lower right butt and into the whole leg. What could be causing this constant pain & discomfort? The only way I can get thru my job at work is with 400 +mg. of Advil. Please offer some insights and possible relief!!?? Thank You--- M.S.
You may have sciatica. This is a term used to describe pain and altered sensations due to the problems with the sciatic nerve.
This is the nerve formed from other nerves that come out from the between the vertebra/bones of the lower back. The pain from irritation of this nerve is typically felt in the buttocks and legs.
You need an x ray of the back though MRI would be better. The x ray would only show the bones of the back, the MRI would show the bones and the discs between them, nerves, ligaments etc.
Treatment would depend on the extent of the changes seen on imaging.
In many cases it consist mainly of physiotherapy and pain medication.
I hope this helps
