Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain And Numbness On The Finger After An Insect Bite?
I think I was either bitten or stung by an insect. It happened on my finger when I turned over a rock. I didn t see anything, but my finger hurt immediately. It was a sharp burning pain. The pain has subsided, but my finger is still tender and numb. My tongue is also a little numb.
I recommend taking an over the counter antihistaminic like Cetirizine. Apply ice packs at the sting site. You can also take Tylenol for pain. If the symptoms do not subside or the numbness, especially of tongue, increases, you feel breathless or giddiness, then i would recommend going to a doctor or to the ER. Hope this information helps you. Thanks.
