What Causes Pain And Pressure In The Calf After A Dog Bite?

You I was bitten by a dog Friday Aug 11. I have seen a Dr taken all the antibiotics prescribed, cleaned the wound as told. But today my calf has been really tight and hurting. about an hour ago I noticed it was a little swollen. Is this something I should be concerned about, oe is it because I have been walking different due to the bite on my foot?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Sometimes due to pain on the leg patients do walk differently than usual and stress more some of the muscles and this might cause the muscles to be in pain and spasms and this might be the case with you as well. Taking paracetamol, ibuprofen regularly and warm compresses might help to relax the muscles.

On the other hand if you notice redness and the area feels hot this may be a sign of infection or local vein thrombosis and you will need to see a doctor to rule these out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
