What Causes Pain And Pulsation In The Major Veins Of The Arms?

I have been noticing pulsing and mild pain, at the same time, in the major veins of both my arms for about two months now. I am 64 and don t take any meds, and have been active and in very good health my whole life. I have recently started a regiment to increase the amount of push-ups I am doing over the course of a year. I am now doing 27 toe push-ups and 27 knee push-ups about 3-4 times a week, increasing by one push each week. Would this have anything to do with the protrusion & pulsing of my veins? This is not a constant symptom, but happens a few times a day. I just took my BP and it s 125/73 pulse 80, which is high for me, as my pulse is usually around 65 or 70. The only other ailment I know about is at a recent yearly physical, my Dr. Said I most likely have gerd. Thank you in advance, Stephanie Russell

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* At the age of 64, walls of the veins of the limbs are fragile and easily
distensible.

It is the increased amount of work up and push ups which are pouring more amount of blood to the concerned vessels of the upper limb to meet the needed blood supply to concerned regions.

This is not of pathology problem, but you should restrict your exercise as per the guidelines of your physician only without taking additional risk to ruin your best cardiac health.

Wish you happy, healthy life for always.
Thanks.
