What Causes Pain And Redness In Ear On The Triangular Fossa?

I have a slight pain on my right ear, in the triangular fossa. I took a look at it, compared it to my left ear but it appears to have some sort of horizontal scar right in the fossa. I don t know what it can be, but I do know it hurts when touched and the top half of my right ear looks slightly red and around the scar it looks pale. I don t know if I should get it checked out, or if it can be an infection?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pain and redness in ear on the triangular fossa of right ear which is due to ear infection and foreign body penetration in ear. It could be due to fungal infection as well. Need not to worry about it. I would suggest you to visit Otolaryngologist/ ENT specialist immediately and get evaluated and start treatment after proper examination. Get all the lab tests done and examination with otoscope. You should take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin along with Ibuprofen. You should put Otogesic ear drops 2-3 times a day. You should take proper rest. Try to avoid pricking it with any sharp object. You should avoid sleeping on this side. You should excessive use of mobile phone from that side and maintain complete hygiene.
