My husband had heart bypass surgery 3 years ago and periodically, like last night, he was up all night with pain and heart pounding that made he cry..he would not let me take him to the emergency room and says he is fine this morning but I am scared for him..any thoughts? Thank you

Hi
Chest pain in a patient who has underwent bypass should be taken very seriously . It can be another heart attack . Heart pounding means his heart is beating at a faster rate which is not good for his heart . I strongly recommend you take him to cardiologist even if he is feeling better . Also ask him for a prescription of beta blocker if he is not already on it .
Also keep nitroglycerine spray at home which ca be used whenever he gets a chest pain (ask your cardiologist for prescription) this will give relief from chest pain that doesn't mean that whenever he gets a chest pain he can take the medicine and sit at home
