What Causes Pain And Severe Swelling In The Tail Bone Area?

I have immense pain and some pretty severe swelling in the tailbone area. I have not fallen over or aggravated the area in any way, it is reaching the point that standing is so painful that I cannot do it for more than a few minutes at a time. Sitting also brings on tear inducing pain, and anything other than laying down diagonally is unbearably painful.

Hi dear,
I understand your concern

Coccygeal pain indicates inflammation there. This can happen without a history of trauma also. Try taking analgesics like ibuprofen 3 times a day for 3 days. If it doesn't come down or recurs, kindly see your doctor for evaluation. This may need imaging of the area to look for any specific cause.

Meanwhile avoid sitting on hard surface, and sitting for prolonged periods.

Hope I have answered your query
