What Causes Pain And Soreness On The Heel?

My heal is sore most of the time, but I don t think it s a spur. The pain is a half inch above the bottom of my foot and hurts mainly when the foot is resting on the sore part like when driving a car. Open back sandels feels the best, but leaves heal exposed to bumping into things. I work on my feet and find after working that my foot as a whole tends to get very stiff and painful. Elevating my foot and massaging the heal helps to restore my foot to normal. And I ve tried heal pads with the hole in the center, and ace bandages to no avail. Just feels like it s bruised. Any ideas?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

Most probably it will be a plantar fasciitis.

In severe cases you might require steroid injection to the foot.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
