What Causes Pain And Stiffness In The Neck After A Whiplash Injury?

I fell on Friday landing flat on my back hitting my head I had a ct of head and neck . The doctor said my neck pain was whiplash and gave me 2 days off of work. I am still having pain, stiffness and decreased mobility. I am due back to work tomorrow as a nursing Assistant. Is it normal to still have symptoms?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to blunt trauma or injury.

For pain, you can take tablet acetaminophen.

Apply diclofenac gel or ointment locally and heating pads will also help.

Do regular physical therapy.

In case of swelling, you may require X-ray of that affected part after orthopedician consultation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale
