What Causes Pain And Swelling Around The Rectum?

Hi, i had sex 2 weeks ago we used protection neither of us have an std (as far as i know) so im sure what is the problem. i have swelling and pain around my rectum, the skin is a little hot on my buttocks as well. the pain is constant when i am sitting but subsides when i am moving around. It is really irritated when i have to urinate it feels like water running over the area. we did not have anal sex but i also have been sexually inactive for 3 yrs...so what is wrong with me?

Hi,
Thanks for using HCM. I understand your concern.
- The swelling around rectum following sex after 3 years of abstinence...is as good as 1st intercourse.It will cause stress & trauma to skin &subcutaneous tissue of perineal region due to sexual activity.That also explains pain during sitting position (which causes pressure over the area )while relief when moving about.
- STD in either of partners / pelvic inflammation or vaginal infection/constipation causing piles problem... are likely to exaggarate the symptoms.
* hot water bath (scitz bath).. pain killers over the counter would relieve it in 4-5 days .If no relief at all... you should consult a gynecologist to evaluate extent of trauma.
*The feeling of water running over the area while passing urine..is due to sore peripheral nerves suplying the part because of swelling & contraction of periurethral muscles instigates it. This would go as the swelling recedes. In case it does not nerve involvement at spinal level at lumbosacral spine. Thanks.
