What Causes Pain And Swelling At The Tip Of Finger Inspite Of Using Gabapentin And Cephalexin?
On the 16th I cut the tip of my finger off. Went to the ER where they gave me a tetanus shot and cauterized the tip. It took several cc s of local anesthesia to kill the pain which was good, for too days. While taking 8-10 tylo4 for the last five days I am still having pain and shock waver of major pain through the day. My thumb from the tip down feels swollen, tight and discolor. I feel it maybe infected. I am taking 500mg cephalexin 1@6hrs, smzitmp 1@12hrs 300mg gabapentin 1@bedtime and tramdol 1@6hr all for the past 48 hours. Please advise ps I am diabetic!
It is understandable to be worried especially since you are diabetic.
The antibiotic that you are using should be able to treat any infection that is present but in some cases the organism causing infection may be resistant to the antibiotic used. If there is no improvement, it would be best to go back to a doctor for review.
You may need an additional or alternative antibiotic.
I hope this helps
