What Causes Pain And Swelling In Chest After An Injury?
Hi, I went swimming with the kids approximatly a week ago and whilst going down a waterslide had hit my right side chest quiet hard. Did not think to much at the time except for the thud i heard in my chest. 3 days later i was in pain in that area and when touching the area approximately just below nipple it is hard, a bit swollen and very tender. Breathing in deep i can feel pain in the area. Can this just be bruising causing swollen area?
The symptoms are probably related to the injury. The swelling at the injury spot is due to inflammation. I recommend to do an X-ray of the chest to exclude a fracture. Meanwhile, I suggest using Tylenol for the pain.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
