What Causes Pain And Swelling In Knee And Left Calf?

I have a painful and swollen knee for approx. 4 weeks. No history of injury. I was unable to put any weight on the left leg for one week. The swelling subsided, but not completely. The pain is mainly behind the knee cap. Today, my left calf was swollen and painful. I have been to two docs and a chiropractor and they are puzzled. My blood work was completely normal. I have Sjogren s syndrome.

Hello,

The problem you are reporting may be inflammatory arthritis due to the Sjogren's or a condition where your kneecap gets a cartilage injury (chondromalacia patella).

In my practice, I would send you for an MRI of the knee to establish the diagnosis.

All the best.
