Hi thanks for your question
When some superficial part of body is injured, soft tissues of the body are damaged, resulting in the collection of blood and other damaged tissues under skin or muscle. This injury along with damaged tissues release many chemical substances, responsible for swelling and pain. Collected blood and damaged tissues also causes swelling. You are feeling pain, this is due to the mechanism as i explained. You are also feeling a dent along with something under your finger, most probably it could be a small broken piece of bone from you Tibia (shin bone), which has given a dent in your tibia and the piece is moving under skin. Consult a physician who may advise you X ray of the leg to confirm or rule out chipping out of any small bone piece from your tibia and may advice you treatment accordingly
Hope that answers your question
