Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I broke my ankle about 8 yrs ago. I had a metal plate put on both sides with a couple screws. They ended up taking the plates& screws out. I have been having problems with my ankle for a yr now. It starts to swell when I ve been on it for about 10-15 mins. It ends up hurting so bad that it feels like I can t stand on it. Sometimes it gives out. I spoke with my dr about it & all she did was send me to physical therapy. That didn t help. I m still having problems with it.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Knee joints pain and swelling may be due to arthritis, age-related, trauma induced, infection or bursitis. Until examination is done it is by x-ray or through Arthroscopy it is difficult to say what it is.
Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Use cold compress and elevate the limb, use pain killers . If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
