Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Arch Of Foot?
I have a newly developed painful swollen straight hard line on the arch of my foot? It goes side to side not back to front? I called to try to get in with a podiatrist but it seems they r in high demand and it will be more than a month before I can get in to see them. It reminds me of a swollen lymph node or hardened vein tho I know there r no lymph nodes in the foot. Planters fibroma, maybe? Should I be concerned? My foot has been hurting, felt like a bruised bone, for a few weeks and I thought it was from wearing flip flops. But all of the sudden I ve noticed this hard straight line about 2.5 inches long. I can t find any discussion or pics online that r in a straight line like this. All of the pics of planters fibroma r more circular or oval and this is a very defined straight line, maybe a quarter inch wide.
Your symptoms are suggestive of plantar fasciitis. Pain and inflammation are the most common symptoms. Pain increase in the morning as you put more pressure on the arch of foot for a long time. A plantar fibroma can develop in one or both feet, is benign (non-malignant) and usually will not go away or get smaller without treatment. Physiotherapy, rest and shoe modification can help in reducing your symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
