What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Back?

I had an absess on my back -when in to emergency -they lanced it and the PA who treated me was draining it -having me lay on my stomach while he applied pressure on my back. He then bandaged me up (did not pack it) gave me some antibiotics and sent me home. The pain has increased dramatically - the entire area on that side of my back is swollen with pressure. I am not showing signs of a fever but I am very worried that this is a deeper infection or something. Pease advise

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I will advise you see the doctor to explore the abscess again and drain it properly. Regular dressing, antibiotics and anti-inflammatories may help to control infection and symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mbuomboh Veranso
