What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Digastric Muscle?

I believe I have strained or injured my Digastric muscle while singing. The muscle has been swollen and painful for over a month. (It took a while to identify the source of swelling -- a doctor incorrectly diagnosed it as a swollen lymph node due to saliva gland infection.) What can I do to heal from this muscle injury? It seems to be aggravated by daily activities such as talking and chewing/swallowing.
