What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Fingers?

I fell a couple of weeks ago. My index and middle fingers bent backwards - all the way to the back of my hand. I did cold compresses and kept it bandaged for a few days to keep the swelling down and help with soreness/pain. The swelling hasn t gone completely away in the knuckles. It seems the tightness and soreness won t subside. Is this a sprain? Should I just give it more time to heal?

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your fingers.

As per your history it was two weeks back that you had traumatic injury. Two weeks are much time for a sprain to heal.
This can be also a hairline fracture or Eben a legimemt tear.

You need to get an X Ray of fingers done and consult a orthopedic surgeon for better diagnosis. If it the fracture is not properly reduced it may cause you restricted movement or ill joined bone that can lead you some movement problem of fingers in future.

Hope the answer to your query, visit us again if you need any further help in future.
