What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Foot?

I have a bulging on the inner aspect of my left foot and it aches off and on. I like to do brisk walking as an exercise and recumbent cycling. I do not wear tight-fitting shoes. The pain came on gradually several months ago; I had regular x-rays(couple of months ago) that were normal. The bulge at that time wasn t as noticeable. The ortho Dr wanted to do a steroid injection; discussed inflammation and a possible ligament problem. I will also get aching at night. During the day I wear platform shoes, open-toe shoes that have plenty of room and are comfortable. I also tried an insert that I was measured for at a CVS pharmacy machine but it didn t fit well in my loafer. Now my right foot is starting to ache and my heels when resting at night. Am trying to find an ortho Dr who specializes in feet. Your feedback please.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
