What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Knee Cap After And Injury?

Hi, I ve had this injury happen about 5 times now and I m 19 years of age and it s never been diagnosed so it s meant I ve never recovered properly. On this latest one I was running up the stairs and I think I might ve caught my foot on the edge of the step and i felt a pop feeling just to the right of my kneecap and then quite instantly very painful. At that point it s hard to walk and once the swelling comes up you can t walk. It s happened 4 times before and appears to be a weakness which I would like to find out what it is.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Most likely due to ligament injury involving anterior or posterior cruciate ligament.

Though analgesic tablets and spray to apply over the area will provide transient relief, a definite diagnosis with MRI of the knee is a must to proceed for curative steps in your case.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
