What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Knees?

My husband had a tkr 5 months ago, there has been swelling and pain on that knee xrays show all parts are in the proper place. But there is fluid for some reason. He just came down with a sore throat and is running a fever of 102.4 his knee is quite warm also and as usual is swollen is there cause for concern. I had a cold about a week ago and not sure if I had a fever.

Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Probably you had viral cold a week back.... the same infection was carried to your husband to cause sore throat. Viral infections tend to affect various parts of body including joints. Already operated replaced knee joint was weakened& surrounding tissue caught the infection & that's why the swelling , warm, & free fluid in the joint. pain along with fever.
You should take him to his surgeon... get investigated & examined to find exact cause of the inflammation get required specific treatment.
Till then-
- Let him take rest./ cold compress/ over the counter NSAID drug like Ibuprofen 400 mg twice a day after food.
