What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Leg After A Knee Surgery?

Three years ago I had knee surgery for a torn meniscus, synovial plica, and stress fracture on my tibia and fibula. This was caused from a sports injury. Since then, I still have pain. It get s worse with the change in weather, which I know is arthritis. However, lately it has been in pain from walking up and down stairs and it is very swollen after I take a hot shower or sleep with my heated blanket on. This is the one that confuses me. I just didn t know if you had an opinion as to what this could be.

Hello,

Yes, there will be the effusion of the knee after surgery may be due to local irritation or infection or recurrence of trauma while climbing the staircase etc.

Elevate the limb, use cold compression, use NSAIDs or painkiller medication.

If symptoms not improved please consult your Orthopedician he will take X-ray of the knee then treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
