What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Leg After Implantation Of Titanium Rod?

Hi Doctor, I had a surgery wherein my tibia n fibula were put back in place and a titanium rod implanted in the bone after an accident.this was in 2012.but even now at times I have pain at the places where the screws hav been drilled or some swelling and irritation where the bones broke.i s there a possibility the rod s presence and or the screws in the body are causing side effects? Soon after the surgery I was diagnosed wth rheumatoid arthritis as well. I took medication for a while n now have stooped it all .please let me know wat can be the possible causes fory problems.
