Hello,
It looks like she has oedema in legs. Oedema is a normal response of the body to inflammation or
injury. In the leg it due to a fluid accumulation which could be due to inactivity.
In this state, the body is unable to pump the fluid back up towards the heart.
I would like to advise you to put 2 pillows under her legs such that it is above heart level i.e 45 degrees.
In this position, she can be encouraged to do ankle toe movements which will enhance the blood circulation and also the pumping of fluids.
Encourage her to walk with walking aid. Encourage her to socialize and talk to people that will boost her confidence and well being.
It is very important that she does general body exercises with assistance.
She can
consult a urologist, they might advise her to take antidiuretics and protein-rich diet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
