What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Right Knee?

Hello. The other day I turned sideways, and I felt a pain in my right knee. Straight away, my knee became swollen. I have had surgery in the past (clean and scrape). I have fine bones. MRI next week. Will this mean a knee construction as my past knee surgeon told me, one day I will need a total knee replacement. Thanks Kylie

Hello,

It could be due to a minor ligament or tendon injury. We have to rule out possibilities like arthritis also.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

Better to consult an orthopedician and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
