Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a fever of 100-102 for 2.5days and the past 2 days have been fever free. I’m starting to feel better but my throat still hurts a little. My uvula was really swollen and has gone down some. There are white streaks on it that have been there for a few days and won’t go away, even when I gargle with salt water. Should I get tested for strep? Could I have it if I do t have a fever anymore?
It seems to be a viral fever which affects the throat and swelling of the tonsils and uvula. Viral fever doesn't need any antibiotics and since the fever is settled and you are in recovery face. Throat discomfort is because of post-viral response. Kindly do the salt water gargle three to four times a day. No need for any streptococcus test.
Usually, viral-associated throat infection will settle of its own within seven days. Symptomatic treatment is needed. Unless you don't have any new symptoms kindly follow the above advice.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Senthilnathan Subramanian
