What Causes Pain And Swelling In Vagina After Having Intercourse?

Hi I m extremely worried at the moment 4 days ago I had sex (I had not had sex before that for around a year). As soon as I had sex I was feeling pains and swelling around the bottom entrance of the vagina I ve tried to examine it and their seems to be a cut or something I ve had some bleeding and I dont know if it s a vaginal fissure or herpes. The sex I had was quite painful as my partner is quite big and wasn t well lubricated I m concerned and I need a answer

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
What problems you have encountered of pain and swelling in the vagina after having intercourse could be due to reactive hyperaemia of vaginal mucosa, mainly caused by friction due to improper lubrication.
Kindly do the following to overcome the problem:
1. Wash the area with cold water and mild antiseptic solution like Povidine twice daily to maintain good genital hygiene.
2. Apply Neomycin with Hydrocortisone cream on the affected part following drying twice daily.
3. Take antiinflammatory-analgesic medication like Ibuprofen twice daily after food.
4. Take anti-histamine tablet Levocetrizine once a day.
5. Apply moisurizer cream or lotion at bedtime.
Kindly abstain from sexual activities till the lesions heals completely. Take adequate precautions to get enough lubrication or use water-based lubricants next time while indulging in intercourse.
