What Causes Pain And Swelling Of Stomach While Taking Metformin?

I have blood cancer, CMML I have severe pain in my stomach is this my spleen? I have diabetes type 2 I was taking metaformin then the gp discovered my liver was troubling so stopped metaformin but now I m back on it and my stomach is swollen more than normal

Hello welcome to HCM


There are three Possiblities

1.your CML which can make your spleen big enough to compress your stomach outlet and make it big due to partial obstruction or you would have mistook the spleen as stomach
2.metformin is known to cause increased bloatedness but this usually occurs during dose increase , or on starting or on reintroducing drug ..
3.diabetic gastropaerisis a complication of diabetes can cause delayed emptying of your stomach .

As your liver is impaired you should stop taking metformin as your doctor told and should take other oral hypoglycaemic agents
In case if it was your spleen you should consult the treating oncologist
