What Causes Pain And Swelling On The Ankles?

I am hoping you can help steer us in the right direction. For over a month my wife is suffering with very sore and swollen ankles. X-rays, blood test, extraction of fluid from the area and MRI reveal nothing. The orthopedic surgeon Dr. withdrew fluid from the ankle with great difficulty. He was expecting it to be crystallized but is was simply a little bit of blood. It seems to be getting worse and we seem to be flying blind. Might you have any ideas or additional things we should do to explore the cause of this ? Thank you

As per your clinical history is concerned your wife has ankle pain and swelling and it can be due to many pathological causes so I think you have already done every investigation without any result. In my opinion, please talk with your doctor regarding tarsal tunnel syndrome, which is a disorder related to your nerve and it needs surgical repair.
