What Causes Pain And Swelling On The Face While Suffering From Sinusitis?
I have constant drainage, but this weekend the right side of my face was sore because of swelling and sinus pressure. i was very weak. I feel better now but when I blew my nose today there was lots of thick yellow mucus. Was this part of the infection?
Pain and swelling on face can be due to Sinusitis as there are large sinuses present adjacent to nose on either side of face.. Your symptoms are clear signs of infection in your sinus causing Sinusitis.. There is accumulation of infected mucous in your sinuses leading to discharge of yellow mucous from nose as the sinuses drains through nose only.. Pain on cheek is due to the location of large maxillary sinus we around nostrils.. You should consult an Emergency room or a physician and get evaluated.. A script of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and decongestant nasal spray like Xylometazoline can help.. Also do steam inhalation and saline nasal irrigation..
Hope this helps..
Regards
