What Causes Pain And Swelling On The Wrist?

Hi my name is Beth and my wrist on my right side hurts so bad and it swells real bad and the place it hurts worse is the bone on the wrist and the pain goes up my arm to almost the elbow! If you don t mind answering just one more, I had carpel tunnel surgery in Dec. but there is a sharp pain from my wrist on the left side, up into my palm and into my tumb,and are one the scar is pretty is is still very sore, and around the scar it is very hard.

Hello,

Pain on the wrist that is at the side of the wrist, next to the thumb and goes up to the elbow might be due to the so called De Quervain tendinitis. This is inflammation of the tendon that moves the thumb and is related to repetitive movements.
It can be better with ibuprofen and paracetamol and some immobilization, some physiotherapy might be helpful as well. If these don't help enough then local steroid injection can be tried.
