What Causes Pain And Swelling Under The Big Toe?

I woke up yesterday with pain in my foot under my big toe. It almost feels like a foot cramp that hasn t cleared. It has been painful enough to make me limp. I thought it would just go away, but it seems to have gotten worse. Now my big toe is swollen I have some redness on the underside of my foot and the side. I did not injure my foot in any way I am aware of. Any advice would be helpful.

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. If you send of picture of the area it will be more helpful in understanding the condition. As you didn't injure your leg the most likely condition is gout attack. It is more specific to this location. Checking your uric acid levels will be helpful to rule out this. Local examination by GP should be done to rule out cellulitis or puss collection. In such case it should be drained to get improvement. In case of Gout taking NSAIDs like Naproxen will be helpful.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
