Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
64 yr old healthy white male. Nondiabetic. When I have been lying down (e.g., sleeping) or sitting in a recliner for an hour or more, when I stand up, the soles of my feet are very tender. Painful to walk. Works itself out after i have walked a few hundred steps.
You seem to have plantar fasciitis which is inflammation of the fascia that lays at the bottom of the foot and connects the heel with the toes.
You will need to do some exercises to help the fascia distend. For instance, rolling your feet over a glass bottle every morning before starting to walk. Also, gently pulling up your toes for some seconds and repeat this several times. A physiotherapist will be of great help to give you the proper exercises and make sure you are doing them well.
You may also apply ice (gently massage ice at the painful area) a few times a day and Ibuprofen 600 mg every 6-8 hours after food.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
